Never Let Anyone Else Drive Your Dreams The difference between taking advice and surrendering control and why it matters: There comes a point in life when you have to ask yourself a difficult question: "Whose life am I actually living?". It is easy to believe that we are making our own decisions. We choose our careers. We choose our relationships. We choose where we live, what we pursue, what we give our time to and what we believe is possible for our future. But sometimes, without even realising it, we allow other people's opinions to become the steering wheel of our lives. Someone tells us that our dream is unrealistic. Someone says we should choose the safer option. Someone questions whether we are capable. Someone reminds us of everything that could go wrong. Someone tells us what they would do if they were in our position and slowly, their voice becomes louder than our own. We begin to doubt ourselves. We postpone the dream. We change direction. We settle for what feels acceptable rather than pursuing what feels meaningful. There is nothing wrong with listening to advice. In fact, wise advice can save us from unnecessary mistakes.
